Incontinence can affect all people, regardless of what country they are from, age and gender. It is estimated that approximately 26% of Australians or 1 in 4 are affected by some form of incontinence.
People born in countries other than Australia make up almost a quarter (24%) of the population in Victoria (ABS Census 2006)
In order to raise awareness of incontinence prevention and management among people from culturally and linguistically diverse communites, particularly non-English speaking backgrounds, a range of information and programs are available.
Factsheets about bladder and bowel health are available in 14 different languages from the federal government.
Languages include Arabic, Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), Croatian, Dinka, Dutch, English, German, Greek, Hungarian, Italian, Macedonian, Maltese, Persian, Polish, Serbian, Somali, Spanish, Tagalog, Turkish and Vietnamese.
